Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering
Interested in electrical systems, software, and practical design
Hi, I’m Nihaar Batla, a final-year engineering student at UBC Okanagan with a strong interest in electrical engineering, software, and building practical systems that solve real problems.
My academic experience has helped me develop a foundation in circuit design, programming, prototyping, and technical problem-solving. Through engineering coursework and team-based projects, I have learned how to move from an idea to a working solution by combining analysis, testing, iteration, and communication. I enjoy projects that connect hardware and software, especially when they involve measurable performance, system integration, and user-focused design.
During my time at UBC Okanagan, I have contributed to projects that strengthened both my technical and professional skills. These experiences have included designing and testing engineering systems, working collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams, and documenting technical work clearly for different audiences. They have taught me the importance of persistence, structured problem-solving, and thoughtful design decisions grounded in real constraints.
Looking ahead, I hope to continue developing as an engineer in roles that involve design, testing, and technology development. I am especially interested in opportunities where I can apply electrical and software skills to create reliable, practical, and meaningful solutions.
I am particularly interested in pursuing a career in the semiconductor industry and circuit design, where I can contribute to the development of efficient, high-performance electronic systems. I am motivated by designing and optimizing circuits that operate at the intersection of hardware and real-world applications.
Selected projects that reflect my growth as an engineering student include my capstone work on distillation safety monitoring, a motor design project, and several hands-on builds involving sensing, control, and energy-efficient systems. Through these experiences, I have developed strong skills in prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and communicating technical work clearly and effectively.
